DUNWOODY NAMED NEXT MTMC COMMANDER
Brig. Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody has been named the next commander of the U.S. Military Traffic Management Command.
Dunwoody, who replaces Maj. Gen. Kenneth L. Privatsky, is commanding general of the First Corps Support Command for the XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, N.C. Her command is assisting the 82nd Airborne which will soon replace the 101st Airborne in the war on terrorism in Afghanistan.
“She’s a great leader,” Privatsky said. “I am very pleased to see her take my place.”
Dunwoody began her military career with a direct commission as second lieutenant in 1975 after graduating from the State University of New York in Cortland, N.Y. She served at installations in both the United States and Europe.
In June 1998, Dunwoody became executive officer to the director of the Defense Logistics Agency at Fort Belvoir, Va. She assumed her current position at Fort Bragg on June 2000.
When Dunwoody arrives at MTMC, she will be the first woman to command the military’s 37-year-old surface transportation logistics unit, headquartered in Alexandria, Va.
Dunwoody’s report date at MTMC is not yet determined, but it will likely occur this fall when Privatsky is expected to step down
