Eastern Car Liner switches PNW operations to the Port of Everett
The port of Everett, Washington, said Japanese Eastern Car Liner (ECL) will transfer its Pacific Northwest operations to its facilities from the ports of Tacoma and Seattle.
Starting in early October, ECL will transport Boeing’s empty aerospace containers, as well as heavy equipment including construction machineries, steel products and project cargo from the port of Everett to Nagoya and
Hiroshima in Japan. The call at Hiroshima marks the first regularly scheduled direct service between North America and Hiroshima, the port said.
Recently both FESCO and Westwood Shipping Lines have started calling at Everett. The port estimates that with the three new services, at least 100 ships will make calls in the next year, up from 13 in 2004.
