EC CLEARS PAKHOED/VAN OMMEREN TERMINALS MERGER
The European Commission has cleared a merger between Koninklijke Pakhoed
NV and Koninklijke Van Ommeren NV, the two large bulk terminal operators.
The EC said that the two Dutch firms have agreed to divest part of their
liquids storage terminals in Rotterdam and Antwerp.
A merger proposal between the two companies had already been notified to the
EC one and a half year ago, but the two companies called off their plan because of
competition issues raised by the European agency.
The EC said that divestment proposals by the two firms will now remove
competition concerns.
