ECONOCARIBE INTRODUCES ONLINE TOOLS FOR OVERSEAS AGENTS
Econocaribe Consolidators has developed new systems applications that will allow its 47 overseas agents to receive and print original bills of lading over the Internet.
After the Miami-based non-vessel-operating common carrier issues its manifest in the United States, its overseas agents can download the manifest online. “We can then authorize the printing of original bills of lading immediately at destination,” said Ron Olster, Econocaribe’s information systems director.
“Many freight forwarders have asked to have their original bills of lading sent back to them, only in turn to send them by mail to their destination client or agent,” said Dan Rocke, national account manager for Econocaribe. “We can provide this service at no charge for the freight forwarders.”
If any changes have to be made to a bill of lading after the information is entered, for example a change of vessel, a new copy will be e-mailed to the forwarder, the company said.
Econocaribe’s Internet-based system also provides forwarders with cargo tracking and electronic notification of cargo arrival at the NVO’s U.S. receiving stations.
