Edison to head CN’s BC Rail integration

Canadian National Railway Co. has appointed David P. Edison to lead the company’s integration of BC Rail.

The British Columbia government approved legislation in early December allowing the CN-BC partnership. The deal is pending final approval by Canada’s Competition Bureau and is expected to close in the first quarter.

Edison, a 38-year railroad veteran, spent the past four years as vice president of CN’s Pacific Division. In this position, he was in charge of operations, engineering and regional sales in Alberta and British Columbia.

The integration of BC Rail into CN is expected to take three years. CN said Edison will manage the construction of CN’s wheel shop in Prince George, realignment of rail yards in North Vancouver Creek line, workforce planning and other aspects of the integration.
