EGL INC. ACQUIRES TAIWANESE FIRM
EGL Eagle Global Logistics said Thursday it has completed the acquisition of Concord Express Ltd. Taiwan, and will operate the new wholly owned subsidiary as EGL Eagle Global Logistics Taiwan Ltd. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Grace Chen, Concord's managing director, who has led the organization since its inception 19 years ago, will continue to head the Eagle Taiwan organization. Concord has a staff of 55 and offices in Taipei and Kaohsiung.
EGL also said it will separate from its Taiwan joint venture, in which it assumed 51-percent ownership position through its merger with Circle International Group. The Taiwan joint venture operated under the names of Circle and Airsafe. The split will take effect Feb. 1, when the EGL organization will transition all cargo to the new subsidiary, Eagle Taiwan.
“Eagle's relationship with Concord (Taiwan) predated its merger with Circle, an EGL spokesman said.
