EGL TAPS DANZAS AEIÆS LACCONA TO BE COO

EGL Inc., the Houston-based logistics company that recently bought forwarder Circle International, has tapped ex-Danzas AEI executive Giorgio Laccona to serve as international chief operating officer.

Laconna was president and chief executive officer of the Americas for Danzas AEI since April. Before that, Laccona was senior vice president of the Americas for AEI, responsible for sales, marketing and operations in the region.

Laccona started with AEI in 1976, working up through accounting and operations. He was elected an officer of the company in 1996.

Laconna's “years of industry experience and knowledge, both of North American and overseas markets, give Giorgio a broad global perspective that will prove important as we continue to unite the services of EGL and Circle International Group around the world,” said James R. Crane, EGL chairman and chief executive officer.
