EIMSKIP ADJUSTS ICELAND-SCANDINAVIA ROUTE

EIMSKIP ADJUSTS ICELAND-SCANDINAVIA ROUTE

Iceland-based ocean carrier Eimskip will adjust the port rotation on its Iceland-Hamburg-Scandinavia route starting June 29 to improve its service to the Faroe Islands.

The biggest change is that the transit time between Denmark and the Faroe Islands will be shortened to three days. The vessels on the route will be in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Wednesday instead of Friday. Calls to Aarhus, Denmark, change from Wednesday to Friday.

Every other week the Bruarfoss, a 1,012 TEU vessel, will have an additional call at Frederikshavn, Denmark, to discharge import cargo to the Jylland market, which is a new service.

With this change, the carrier said Danish shippers can deliver cargo to the Aarhus piers as late as Friday mornings and have the cargo ready for delivery in the Faroe Islands on Monday.
