Eimskip orders two reefer ships

Icelandic ocean carrier Eimskip, a subsidiary of the Avion Group, has ordered two reefer vessels from Norwegian shipyard Myklebust Verft AS for a total purchase price of about ISK3.12 billion ($42 million).

The 2,500 deadweight vessels are scheduled to be delivered in July and November 2007. They will be 80 meters (262 feet) long and 16 meters (52.5 feet) wide with a maximum speed of 16 knots. Their loading and discharging capacity will be about 200 tons per hour.

The ships will be operated by Eimskip’s majority-owned Norwegian subsidiary Coldstore & Transport Group, in the North Atlantic Ocean.
