EMERY NAMES KIRCHNER NORTH AMERICA VP
Emery Worldwide, the integrated air freight subsidiary of CNF Inc., has appointed Eric Kirchner vice president – North America.
Kirchner has two decades of transportation experience, most recently serving as Emery's vice president for western North America. Kirchner must find some way to maintain U.S. service levels at Emery as the company struggles with rising operating costs and shrinking demand. Emery posted a $5.5-million operating loss in the third quarter. Emery's competitors also struggled.
Kirchner's “background provides Emery with the necessary capabilities to quickly generate the proper levels of profit and shareholder return by making our North America operations more efficient and more effective in meeting our service needs,” said Chutta Ratnathicam, Emery's new chief executive officer.
Kirchner replaces John Zarras, who retired after 14 years at Emery with a distinguished career in transportation, Ratnathicam said.
