EPA to hold “e-manifest” meeting for hazardous waste shipments
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Solid Waste will hold a meeting May 19-20 in Washington to obtain industry input on the development of a national electronic manifest system for hazardous waste shipments.
The agency said its objective for the meeting is to gather “creative feedback from stakeholders on the merits of different approaches to establishing an electronic manifest system capability.”
The EPA encourages a variety of participants to attend, including systems developers and hazardous waste transporters. “Based on the input received at this meeting, from comments received, and from our own internal discussions, the agency will decide whether to proceed with an e-manifest rule and if so, how it should be designed and implemented,” the EPA said.
