Epes Logistics, a subsidary of Epes Carriers, has acquired Archdale, N.C.-based freight brokerage Meredith Transport Inc. (MTI).
Epes said the move will help it branch into new markets.
Epes Logistics offers flatbed and over-dimensional shipments, expedited shipping, intermodal, and warehousing services, while MTI specialized in truckload, less-than-truckload, specialty shipping, and international freight brokerage services.
MTI’s 10 employees will remain with the company, joining Epes’ staff of 73.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Epes expects the MTI purchase to increase its revenues by about 30 percent this year to reach $71.5 million. – Geoff Whiting
