ESPO to host public debate on European ports policy
Brussels-based port lobby group European Sea Port Organization (ESPO) has decided to modify its annual conference to include a public debate on the future of European seaport policy.
The decision follows the European Parliament’s overwhelming rejection in January — for the second time in less than two years — of the port services directive, which aimed to liberalize port services.
The conference will be held June 1-2 in Stockholm, Sweden. Keynote speakers include Jacques Barrot, the European Commission vice president, Georg Jarzembowski, Member of the European Parliament and Ulrica Messing, Sweden’s minister for communications and regional policy.
