EUROPE/MIDDLE EAST CARRIERS RAISE RATES

   The European Middle East Rate Agreement carriers have advised shippers of a plan to raise eastbound container freight rates on March 1.

   Current rate levels from United Kingdom, North Continent and Scandinavia to the Middle East will go up by $150 per 20-foot container and $200 per 40-foot box, the carrier group said.

   The European Middle East Rate Agreement carrier members are CMA CGM, Contship Containerlines, Ellerman, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk Sealand, Norasia, P&O Nedlloyd, Safmarine and United Arab Shipping Co.
