EUROPE/MIDEAST CARRIERS ADD IRAN CHARGE
The shipping lines of the Europe Middle East Rate Agreement said that they will introduce an additional charge at the port of Bandar Abbas, Iran, on March 1.
The carriers said that they are obliged to introduce a tariff additional for this port, called the Bandar Abbas additional, “as a result of greatly increased charges at Bandar Abbas.”
The port additional will be $50 per 20-foot container and $75 per 40-footer. It will be collected from European exporters and will apply to all container shipments moved by the agreement carriers and imported into Iran via Bandar Abbas.
The carriers of the Europe Middle East Rate Agreement are Andrew Weir Shipping (Ellerman), CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk Sealand, P&O Nedlloyd, Safmarine, Senator Lines and United Arab Shipping Co.
The carriers said that they will continue to monitor the situation closely.
