Europe/South America carriers raise Panama surcharge
Members of the European/South Pacific & Magellan Freight Conference, a carrier group in the Europe/West Coast of South America trade, said they will increase the Panama Canal surcharge to $125 per 20-foot-container, effective May 1.
The conference said the surcharge was necessary due to the new measurement and pricing system introduced by the Panama Canal Authority.
European/South Pacific & Magellan Freight Conference carriers are CMA CGM, Compania Sud Americana de Vapores, Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd, “K” Line and P&O Nedlloyd.
