Europe/West Africa carriers raise rates
The Europe West Africa Trade Agreement is the latest carrier group to have announced rate increases for 2004.
Effective March 1, the conference carriers plan to raise Europe/West Africa southbound tariff rates by:
* 100 euros ($122) or '70 per 20-foot container, or 180 euros ($220) or '126 per 40-foot container to Dakar and Abidjan;
* 200 euros ($244) or '140 per 20-foot container, or 360 euros ($440) or '252 per 40-foot container to Conakry and Tema;
* and 300 euros ($366) or '210 per 20-foot container, or 540 euros ($660) or '378 per 40-foot container to other destinations.
The carriers of the Europe West Africa Trade Agreement are Delmas, Maersk Sealand, Nile Dutch Africa Line, OT Africa Line, P&O Nedlloyd, Safmarine and West-Afrika Linien Dienste.
