EUROPE/WEST AFRICA CARRIERS RAISE RATES
Shipping lines of the Europe West Africa Trade Agreement have notifed shippers of a plan to introduce substantial southbound rate increases on April 1.
Under the plan, freight rates from Europe to West Africa will go up by 350 euro ($378) or '230 per 20-foot container and 630 euro ($680) or '414 by 40-footer.
The carriers of the Europe West Africa Trade Agreement are Maersk Sealand, its sister company Safmarine, Nile Dutch Africa Line, P&O Nedlloyd and West-Afrika Linien-Dienste.
