EVERGREEN EXPANDS WESTBOUND SERVICE TO YANTIAN, CHINA
Evergreen Marine Corp., the Taiwan-based ocean carrier, has added a westbound call at the port of Yantian, China, to its WAE (U.S. West
Coast/Asia/Europe) pendulum service.
“In 2002, Yantian handled almost 4.2 million TEUs, up 50 percent over its 2001 throughput. While we don’t expect this rate of expansion to be maintained — local forecasts suggest a growth rate nearer 20 percent — there is clearly going to be a lot more cargo that carriers will be required to lift,” said Arnold Wang, president of Evergreen.
