EVERGREEN, LLOYD TRIESTINO PLAN TO ADD TRANSPACIFIC LOOP
Evergreen Line and group affiliate Lloyd Triestino are planning to introduce an additional transpacific container service.
Both carriers have notified an agreement to the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission saying they will add “an additional string to the alliance agreement with five vessels added by Lloyd Triestino.” The proposed agreement would also allow the carriers to charter space from each other.
A spokesman for Lloyd Triestino could not comment on the new service on Friday.
Evergreen and Lloyd Triestino operate five weekly transpacific services in each direction, with 32 ships. Evergreen also takes space on another weekly service run by New World Alliance carriers APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and MOL.
Evergreen and Lloyd Triestino are expected to announce details of the new service in the next few days.
