EVERGREEN RECEIVES BIDS FROM MITSUBISHI, KVAERNER
Evergreen Marine Corp., the Taiwanese ocean carrier, is considering bids to build up to 30 new containerships.
A spokesperson for the carrier said Friday that two shipyards have submitted bids: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. in Japan, and Aker Kvaerner Group, a Norwegian company that would build the ships in Germany.
“Although Mitsubishi’s bid is favored, Evergreen is considering splitting its order between several yards to speed up delivery,” said Barbara Yeninas, an Evergreen spokesperson.
“Evergreen has not determined the final number of vessels to be built, and has not chosen the shipyards that will be participating in this project,” she said.
