EVERGREEN UPGRADES INDIA/SOUTH AFRICA/SOUTH AMERICA LINKS
Evergreen Marine Corp. will upgrade its services between India, South Africa and South America to improve transit times.
The carrier will initiate direct sailings every 14 days from Nhava Sheva, Mumbai, to Durban, effective Nov. 1. Cargo will be transshipped over Durban to Evergreen's weekly ESA service for ports in South Africa, Mauritius and South America.
Evergreen has transshipped the traffic over Singapore, with a total transit time from Nhava Sheva to Durban of 21 days. The new service takes only 15 days. Transit from Nhava Sheva to Buenos Aires has been cut to 29 days, from 35 days.
The ESA service has a rotation of Kaohsiung, Singapore, Port Louis, Durban, Cape Town, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Santos, Cape Town, Durban, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kaohsiung.
Evergreen is increasing its focus on India to take advantage of growing exports to all parts of the world, said Marcel Chang, president of Evergreen.
