Executive Moves: Norfolk Southern, Port of New Orleans and CSAFE Global

Norfolk Southern (NS) promotes vice president strategic planning and vice president industrial products; Port of New Orleans adds to board of commissioners; and CSAFE Global names new CEO.

Class I railway Norfolk Southern Corp. (NS) has promoted Michael R. McClellan to the position of vice president strategic planning and Claude E. “Ed” Elkins to vice president industrial products, effective April 1, 2018.
McClellan, who joined Conrail’s general marketing and sales organization in 1985, has served as vice president industrial products for NS since 2013.
A member of the NS team since 1988, Elkins currently serves as group vice president industrial products.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards has appointed Charles H. Ponstein to the seven-member board of commissioners of the Port of New Orleans.
Ponstein, who succeeds William T. Bergeron as the representative for St. Bernard Parish, will serve a five-year term on the board.
In addition to spending time as councilman-at-large and parish president, Ponstein has served as a member of the St. Bernard Parish Chamber of Commerce, St. Bernard Economic Development Commission, Regional Planning Commission and United Way of New Orleans.

CSafe Global, a provider of cold chain packaging solutions to biopharmaceutical and life science companies, airlines and freight forwarders, has named Jeff Pepperworth its new chief executive officer.
Prior to joining CSafe, Pepperworth most recently served as president of the healthcare division for Inmar, Inc., a provider of technology-driven pharmacy returns management and third-party pharmacy management solutions.
He succeeds Brian Kohr, who has resigned as president and CEO in order to pursue other interests but will continue to serve on CSafe’s board of directors.
