EXEL ACQUIRES SOUTH AFRICAN LOGISTICS COMPANY
Exel, a U.K.-based provider of supply chain management services, said Wednesday it has bought Eagle Freight Pty, a major privately owned freight company in South Africa.
Assets related to the transaction are valued about $6.2 million, according to an Exel statement.
Eagle Freight gives Exel access to an established sea-freight business, headquartered in Johannesburg, with activities in Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Cape Town.
The acquisition “enhances the base from which we can continue to build our operations in the southern hemisphere,” said John Allan, Exel’s chief executive officer.
