EXEL EXTENDS CONTRACT WITH LAND ROVER, FORMS VENTURE IN TURKEY
Exel said it will manage part of vehicle manufacturer Land Rover's Inbound European Collection Service.
The renewed contract and the new business will see Exel manage the transportation of components for all the Land Rover models from suppliers in Germany and within the Czech Republic to Land Rover's assembly plant in Solihull, U.K.
The contract will operate as an addition to Exel's existing automotive inbound European business for Land Rover, which has been in operation for more than two years.
Land Rover is a member of Ford Motor Co.'s Premier Automotive Group.
Exel has also created a 50-50 joint venture with EFES, a Turkish freight forwarding agent, to be called Exel Uluslararasi Nakliyat A.S. Yusuf Oner, the owner and manage of EFES will manage the joint venture.
The company said the addresses increasing demand for logistics service in Turkey, especially in the automotive and telecommunications fields.
