EXEL HANDLES CHRISTMAS TOY SHIPMENTS
London-based logistics group Exel said that it has moved toys from the Asia-Pacific region into the gift-giving regions of America and Europe for the last few months.
Exel has worked with toy manufacturers and retailers around the world to ensure toys are in store, ready for the busy Christmas rush.
“From the summer months through the height, a couple of thousand containers per
week at the end of September, Exel’s consolidation services has been
coordinating transportation of Christmas items in Asia and the U.S.,” the company said. The goods were consolidated, dispatched, customs cleared and made ready in stores.
In the Americas, Exel’s retail arm worked with Toys R Us to ship product from Asia into the U.S. As Christmas approached, Exel said that it continued to move products out of regional distribution centers, providing product visibility throughout the shipping lifecycle. In Europe, Exel worked with Hasbro.
Exel also cited contingency plans to replenish toy inventory by airfreight if needed.
