Exel joins EPCglobal to develop RFID standards
Exel, a U.K.-based provider of logistics services, has joined EPCglobal, a not-for-profit joint venture between EAN International and the Uniform Council Code.
EPCglobal comprises technology vendors, manufacturers and retailers working together to establish standards for the implementation and interoperability of radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies.
'We are committed to understanding RFID's impact on the supply chain,' said Bill Meahl, Exel's chief executive, Contract Logistics, Americas.
Within EPCglobal, Exel will focus on how data extracted by RFID technology can deliver value through real-time product visibility, better demand planning, reduced inventory and improved rates of stock filling.
