EXPEDITORS INTERNATIONAL SEES 37% JUMP IN NET EARNINGS
Expeditors International of Washington Inc. said Tuesday it's second-quarter net earnings improved 37 percent to $18.1 million, compared to $13.2 million for the year-earlier period.
Revenue increased 22 percent to $404.5 million while operating income rose 34 percent to $27.7 million.
The Seattle-based forwarder and customs broker opened new offices during the second quarter in Budapest, Hungary; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Manaus, Brazil; Huizen, The Netherlands; and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
For the six-month period ending June 30, net earnings rose 38 percent to $31.5 million on revenue of $753.5 million, up 22 percent. Operating income rose 37 percent to $48.6 million.
