EXPEDITORS SETTLES CHARGES WITH BXA FOR ILLEGAL EXPORTS
Seattle-based freight forwarder and customs broker Expeditors International has settled a $5,000 civil penalty with the U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Export Administration for allegedly arranging an illegal export shipment.
In 1995, Expeditors’ San Francisco office moved a shipment of semiconductor test equipment from the United States to Taiwan. The cargo was destined to Realtek Semiconductor Co. Ltd. of Taipei, a company on Commerce’s Denied Party list.
