FedEx initials ‘framework for discussion’ in Guangzhou
Federal Express has indicated an interest in possibly developing a facility in Guangzhou, China, by initialing a “framework agreement for future discussions” with authorities in that city, Ed Coleman, a FedEx spokesman, told Shippers’ News Wire.
Coleman denied a Chinese press report saying that FedEx would soon relocate its Asian hub from the Philippines to Guangzhou.
“We have faith in China’s potential. Although we’re exploring possibilities in China, FedEx has no plans to move its hub from Subic Bay in the Philippines, where we have a lease that extends to 2007,” he explained.
