FEFC REINSTATES BUNKER CHARGES
The Far Eastern Freight Conference said that it will reinstate a bunker
adjustment factor effective Nov. 15.
The bunker charge will be $37 per TEU in the Asia/northern Europe
eastbound and westbound trades covered by the conference.
The reintroduction of the bunker charge had become necessary following the
doubling of fuel prices since February, as there is no indication of an early end to this
trend, a spokesman for the FEFC said.
The conference said that the level of the charge will be kept under review.
FEFC carriers are APL, CMA CGM, DSR-Senator, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant
Marine, "K" Line, Maersk Line, Malaysia International Shipping Corp., Mitsui
O.S.K. Lines, NYK, OOCL, P&O Nedlloyd, Sea-Land Service and Yangming Marine Transport.
