FEFC to add St. Petersburg winter surcharge

   Member Lines of the Far Eastern Freight Conference said that if necessary they will introduce a winter surcharge for all cargo to and from St. Petersburg, Russia, “in the event of increasing costs as result of seasonal operational difficulties.”

   Effective Dec. 1 until March 31, the proposed surcharge will be $65 per TEU. For less-than-containerload shipments, the surcharge will be $3.25 per revenue ton.

   FEFC carriers are ANL Container Lines, APL, CMA CGM, CSAV Norasia, Egyptian International Shipping Co., Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, “K” Line, Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Co., MISC Berhad, MOL, NYK, Safmarine and Yang Ming.
