FESCO ADDS CANADIAN CALL TO NORTH AMERICA/AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND SERVICE
After a number of trial calls, Vladivostok-based Far Eastern Shipping Co. has added direct fortnightly calls at Vancouver, B.C. to its weekly North America/Australia/New Zealand FANAL service.
The 1,016-TEU vessel Kapitan Konev made the first scheduled sailing from the Canadian port on Oct. 29.
The service deploys eight ships with an average capacity of 1,328 TEUs. The new port rotation is Seattle, Wash.; Vancouver, B.C.; Portland, Ore.; Oakland, Calif.; Long Beach, Calif.; Papeete, Tahiti; Auckland; Sydney; Melbourne; Auckland; Papeete; Long Beach; Seattle; Portland; Vancouver and Oakland.
Both Vancouver, B.C. and Papeete are called fortnightly.
A spokesman for FESCO told American Shipper, “FANAL anticipates a growth in trade from the Canadian Western Region both on an import and export perspective.”
