First deep-sea calls at port of Nansha
The Chinese government-owned carriers COSCO Container Lines and China Shipping Container Lines will make the first calls by deep-sea vessels at the Chinese port of Nansha on Tuesday.
Nansha is located on the west side of the Pearl River Delta, between Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
COSCO’s 5,400-TEU vessel “Yue He” and China Shipping’s 4,051-TEU ship “Xin Yang Zhou” are both scheduled to depart from Nansha Tuesday.
COSCO is making the call at Nansha on its new Asia/Mediterranean/Europe “CEU II” service. The service is initially using single voyages and a limited frequency, with all eight vessels expected to be phased in by the second quarter of 2005.
The full rotation of the “CEU II” service is Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Nansha, Hong Kong, Naples, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Felixstowe, Singapore, Chiwan and back to Shanghai.
China Shipping is adding calls at Nansha to its weekly transpacific “AAC” service. The revised port rotation is Nansha, Hong Kong, Yantian, Shanghai, Ningbo, Long Beach, Oakland and back to Nansha.
