FIVE FIRMS APPLY FOR OTI LICENSES

Five firms have applied to the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission for ocean transportation intermediary licenses.

   CTX Express Inc., of Buena Park, Calif., applied for a license as a non-vessel-operating common carrier.

      Central Global Express Inc., Warren, Mich,; Starwood Inc., Miami; and Baska Logistics and Trading, Miami have applied for authority to operate both as NVOCCs and ocean freight forwarders.

   Compass Shipping Inc., Brooklyn, N.Y., applied for a license to operate as an ocean freight forwarder.
