Florida opens panhandle inspection station

The Florida Department of Agriculture has opened the state’s first agriculture inspection station in the panhandle region of northwest Florida.

The new inspection station is on Interstate 10 just inside the Florida border with Alabama, near Pensacola.

Officials said the inspection station will serve as a layer of defense not only against invasive pests and diseases that could impact agriculture, but also to prevent criminal activities and potential acts of terrorism.
