FMC appoints Larson general counsel
Amy W. Larson has been appointed general counsel of the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission, effective Jan. 11.
Larson has been an attorney in the agency’s Office of the General Counsel.
She joined the FMC in 1993 as an attorney in the Office of the Secretary, with primary responsibility as a special dockets officer. In 1996, she began working in the Office of the General Counsel. Larson has also been liaising with Congress as acting legislative counsel, and worked as acting general counsel and as a special assistant to the director of the Bureau of Trade Analysis.
Originally from Milton, Mass., Larson is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., and Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Prior to coming to the FMC, Larson had maritime industry experience with a major non-vessel-operating common operator and freight forwarder.
