FMC TO ACT ON PACIFIC CARRIERS’ BIAS CASE
The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission said that it has directed its staff to prepare recommendations for further actions to pursue the issues raised by an investigation into alleged discriminatory practices of transpacific carriers against intermediaries in last year’s shipping season.
In a closed-door meeting on Tuesday, the Federal Maritime Commission accepted the report of commissioner Joseph E. Brennan on his fact-finding investigation into practices of Transpacific Stabilization Agreement ocean carriers covering the 2002-2003 service contract season.
The contents and recommendations of the report are still confidential. The commission may publish a summary report soon.
