FORD EXTENDS VASTERA SERVICES TO CANADA
Vastera, based in Dulles, Va., a provider of trade management solutions, said Thursday that Ford Motor Co. has extended its 10-year managed services agreement with Vastera to include Ford of Canada.
Vastera will now be responsible for Ford of Canada’s import and export operations — including documentation, calculation of duties, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance checks.
Ford has 543 dealerships in Canada, as well as engine plants that in 2000 exported 70 percent of their product.
In July 2000, Vastera took on Ford’s U.S. customs operations, establishing a new office in Michigan for automotive services. This past January, Vastera began to'manage aspects of Ford’s operations in Mexico.
