Ford selects SynQuest for supply chain logistics software
FORD SELECTS SYNQUEST FOR SUPPLY CHAIN LOGISTICS SOFTWARE
SynQuest Inc. said Friday that Ford Motor Co. has
awarded the Atlanta-based e-business software provider with a
multimillion-dollar contract to help control the automakers transportation,
distribution and inventory costs.
SynQuest's software will allow Ford to plan and
simulate its logistics processes to help improve supply chain and distribution
operations.
'We plan to use the SynQuest software to tie our
manufacturing and logistics together more effectively,' said Jerry Joyce,
director of global logistics at Ford. 'Our goal is fulfill orders to customers
faster.'
It is the third agreement between Ford and SynQuest. The
most recent contract covered jointly developing inbound logistics planning
applications to help Ford achieve lower cost, on-time, inbound shipments of
parts used to manufacture vehicles.
