FORMER AMERICAN AIRLINES EXECUTIVE JOINS DOT
The U.S. Transportation Department has appointed Julie Nichols to deputy assistant secretary for governmental affairs.
Prior to her appointment, Nichols served as managing director of government affairs at American Airlines, where she has been credited for advancing the carrier’s legislative initiatives pertaining to aviation tax, safety and consumer relations.
Nichols also served as the senior legislative assistant in the President’s Office of Management and Budget during the former Bush Administration.
The DOT’s Office of Government Affairs represents the department in its dealings with Congress. The office also works closely with state and local governments and other federal agencies and transportation associations.
