Former Contship executives form U.K NVOCC
Two former senior executives of U.K.-based Contship Containerlines have teamed up with a distribution executive to form a non-vessel-operating common carrier company, BurHill Logistics.
The three principals in the new venture are: Peter Hill, former Contship vice president, commercial; Richard Burgess, previously trade director at Contship; and Oliver Magnus, who comes from the warehousing and distribution firm Magnus Group.
Contship recently closed down its former headquarters in Ipswich, southern England.
The NVOCC will initially focus on the major deepsea trades. It will provide NVOCC, customs clearance services, warehousing and inventory control, packing, U.K. distribution services, marine insurance and groupage consolidation.
“We feel there is room for a service provider to think round the problems companies will face increasingly as traffic grows by a predicted 8-10 percent in the next few years,” Burgess said. “We have the skills and professionalism to put in place solutions to overcome the congestion on U.K. roads and at the port gates.”
