FORWARDER NETWORK FPS PLANS EXPANSION

Famous Pacific Shipping, an Asian-based network of freight forwarders that includes 20 member companies, plans to expand its activities in China, Europe and North America.

The forwarders’ group said that it already has strong business volumes in the Asia Pacific region, and controls a network of subsidiary companies, exclusive partners and agents in about 50 markets throughout Asia, North and South America, Europe and Africa.

Famous Pacific Shipping said that it will target China and Brazil, in particular, and will develop its U.S. business. The forwarder network’s group company in the U.S. is FPS Logistics (USA) Inc., with offices in Long Beach and in New York.

China and Hong Kong together comprise about a quarter of the forwarder network’s    business and last year accounted for 100,000 TEUs. Volume in the region is expected to grow to 150,000 TEUs this year. Having already obtained two ‘A’ licenses in China at Tianjin and Dalian, Famous Pacific Shipping said that it is applying for others in 15 main cities in the country.

In addition, the forwarders’ group plans to upgrade its agencies in Spain and Germany and open an agency in Brazil this year.
