Florida Power & Light Co. plans to strengthen power line supports at two South Florida ports as part of a program to help avoid power outages at critical facilities during a hurricane.
According to a report in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, FPL is strengthening power lines to withstand winds up to 150 miles per hour at Port Everglades and the Port of Palm Beach, was well as at three hospitals in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties. The Port of Miami has not experienced significant power outages during hurricanes.
