Fraser River port container volumes up 27%
Canada's Fraser River port reported Wednesday its container volume increased 27 percent to a record 320,136 TEUs from 252,510 TEUs in 2003.
The port said container volumes have reached record levels for the third consecutive year. Since 2001, container throughput has jumped 533 percent.
Total cargo throughput in 2004 was 36.8 million tons compared to the previous record of 35 million set in 2003.
Auto shipments through the port were down slightly to 437,190 units in 2004 from 445,801 units in 2003.
