FreightForward Europe renamed FreightForward International
FreightForward Europe, a Brussels-based lobby group representing large forwarding and logistics companies, has renamed itself FreightForward International to reflect its global membership and interests.
FreightForward Europe was created in 1994 by major freight forwarders operating in Europe to address common industry issues at a European level. The current members of the lobby group are the European-based operators ABX Logistics, Dachser, DHL Logistics & Freight, Exel, Kuehne & Nagel, Panalpina and Schenker, together with U.S.-based GeoLogistics and UTi Inc.
“We are operating in a global industry,” said Klaus Herms, president of FreightForward Europe and chief executive officer of Kuehne & Nagel International AG. He said that all association members are active worldwide and some recent members have U.S. origins.
The lobby group has expressed an interest in issues related to the U.S. Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism and the Container Security Initiative.
The change of name “will in no way divert FreightForward International’s attention from European policy developments, the group added.
