FurnitureFIND.com signs with Exel for delivery service

FurnitureFIND.com, an e-commerce vendor for home furnishings, has contracted with Exel, a U.K.-based provider of logistics services, for Exel to manage a home delivery service throughout the United States and in the Canadian cities of Toronto and Vancouver.

Using FurnitureFIND.com's factory'direct model, Exel Direct, the big-ticket product unit of Exel, will arrange for shipments from 40 manufacturers of big-ticket items to one of Exel Direct's 42 cross-dock locations in the United States.

After an order of furniture arrives at a cross-dock, Exel Direct's personnel will inspect the shipment and prepare it for home delivery, adding fabric protection where needed.

Exel Direct will then contact the vendor's customers two days before a mutually agreed-upon four-hour delivery window. Upon delivery, two Exel Direct employees will set up the furniture and remove packaging debris.

'Exel Direct will reduce our lead times, damages and returns,' said Daryl Kleiman, vice president of merchandising and logistics for FurnitureFIND.com.
