G-LOG LAUNCHES LOGISTICS GATEWAY INC.

Global Logistics Technologies Inc., the Connecticut-based software maker behind start-ups ShipChem.com and SupplyLinks Inc., has launched another start-up, called Logistics Gateway Inc., to sell online freight forwarding services to small- and medium-sized shippers worldwide.

Logistics Gateway plans to build a community of forwarding agents that together will offer a more complete and global portfolio of freight services. The company’s first client and partner is Canada-based forwarder Welke Global Logistics.

“We now have an expanded portfolio of freight services to offer existing customers. This will enable us to expand our business exponentially, seamlessly, and cost-effectively,” said Eileen Warren, a Welke executive.

Logistics Gateway hopes to deliver smaller shippers the same transportation purchasing power larger companies have long enjoyed. Users will be able to lower shipping costs, increase information access and make quicker decisions, G-Log said.

G-Log will provide the technology to link the forwarders and provide member companies with tools for optimizing their logistics operations. In return, G-Log receives an equity stake in the company, as it has in SupplyLinks and ShipChem.

Mitch Weseley, G-Log's chief executive, said he expects to sign two more similar start-up deals before year-end.
