GARVEY, FORMER FAA HEAD, JOINS APCO WORLDWIDE
Former Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Jane Garvey has joined APCO Worldwide and will oversee communications strategy for the public relation firm's transportation clients, according to the Washington, D.C.-based company.
Garvey has extensive experience in air and surface transportation matters. She was the government's chief commercial aviation executive from August 1997 until last year. Garvey also was acting administrator and deputy administrator of the Federal Highway Administration from 1993 to 1997. Prior to joining FHWA she was director of Boston's Logan International Airport.
APCO's transportation portfolio primarily consists of airlines and aircraft manufacturers, but the company hopes Garvey can help it gain clients in the surface transportation arena, B.J. Cooper, senior vice president, told American Shipper. Chinese shipping line COSCO also is a client, he said.
APCO has offices in 23 cities worldwide.
