GATX ESTABLISHES EUROPE OPERATION
GATX Corp. will establish a Europe-based operation to oversee the company's developing activities in that market, the Chicago-based transportation and leasing company said Thursday.
D. Ward Fuller, president of GATX Rail, has been appointed president of the new organization. David M. Edwards, president of GATX Integrated Solutions, replaces Fuller as president of GATX Rail.
GATX has ownership interests in two European rail joint ventures and earlier this week agreed to buy the government of Poland's petroleum tank car fleet. Once the purchase is close, GATX will have a combined interest in more than 30,000 rail cars in Europe, said Ronald H. Zech, chairman of GATX Corp.
The company also said it would consolidate its corporate tax and controller departments. William M. Muckian, director of tax, has been elected controller, in charge of the combined departments.
